I am possibly going to be coming into possession of a Marlin Safety 30/30 with an octogon barrel. The owner dates it at 1919. My question is can this gun handle modern day ammo? The gun is in great condition , no rust inside or out. The stock is perfect.

Let us know if you get it. By the way how does the owner know it was made around 1919? It could well be, I am just curious.

Just a FYI they were all "Marlin saftey" rifles. I'd imagine the one you are talking about is a model 1893. :)

A very cool thing is you are going to find that in most instances your 1893 is the same as the guns being made today. :)
