Found a Marlin model 62 .30 cal. carbine for sale, stock is in good shape, no rust or pitting on barrel or receiver. The problem is they personalized the receiver by etching their initials, very lightly on both sides. A gunsmith says they can be buffed out. The bluing is thin but is consistent. The price is $450, worth it or not?:questionmark:

The Model 62 in 30 Carbine was manufactured from 1966 to 1969, and total production was 7,996 rifles. Prices range from $350 to $500, so its little high.

For me that would be at the top of my price for one with receiver etched. If I felt that it could be fixed satisfactorily for a nominal fee, I would pay that. They just don't come up that often, and I have seen them in the $700 range as well. I am still looking for one myself.
