I just want to thank everyone that gave me expert advice in fixing this rifle.
About 2 months ago I asked for help on a model 20 pump .22. Today I finally got to my upstate house and test fired the rifle. The old rifle worked perfectly with standard velocity shells. The bore of this rifle is rough but I still hit soup cans at 35 paces off hand. Once again thank you. Bob A.
