Help me out, I was given marlin golden 39A as far from firing condition as a rifle can get. I truly want to refurbish it and get it back to firing condition. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this project started?

First -Clean it gently.
Then ask yourself "Do I know what I'm doing?" If the answer is "no" then find someone who does know and let them restore it.
A "bubba-job" has ruined many a good firearm.

A number of members on here can help but you need to more specific about what it's doing and not doing. Download a few pictures so we can get an idea what we're working with. When I first started cleaning, collecting, refurbishing and selling a few Marlins I didn't know squat but always wanted a lever gun. So many people on here came to my rescue in many ways and now I enjoy a new hobby and have some new friends.
