My dad just gave me his Marlin 995 rifle. I have loved that thing since I was a kid and last night he handed it down to me. I have a 14 year old that I would like to hand down to him. However, there are a couple of issues that need to be fixed before I can do that. First, the barrel isn't straight. What I mean is that the sights (both front and rear) are off center. It looks like the barrel was screwed into the action too far. Also, the magazine release is broken off. The part that hangs down that you press back to remove the magazine. I am not 100% sure what parts I need to fix the magazine issue so I am hoping someone can chime in here and help me out. The barrel, well, I hope I can simply take it to my local gunsmith and have him turn the barrel 1/4" or so. Otherwise, the sights will have to removed and reinstalled. The barrel came from the factory that way. My dad simply put a scope on it but I would prefer it to be fixed. Any ideas? Thanks guys!
