I got my Marlin 917M2 today. It cost $199.99. I mounted an available Old Weaver K-10 scope. It has a blue heavy barrel and brown stock.

I shot about 35 rounds. After the first few 5 shot groups, it started making 5 shot groups with 4 of the 5 shots holes touching at 25 yards. I was very Impressed with the accuracy. I'll be shooting some more soon. I have both CCI and Honady ammo. Right now it is selling for $6.00 and $6.50 per box of fifty.

I have a NEF 17HM2 rifle also. I've used it on jack rabbits. I have killed two jack rabbits with it. The kills are not instant ones and the rabbits run aways before they die. Maybe 10 to 20 feet.

If you get tired of shooting that $6.50/bx ammo in it you can always shoot $4.50/ bx 17 Aguila in the M2. It will shoot just as well as the M2, generally speaking. I've fired thousands of rounds of the Aguila in the M2 chamber. Either way, sounds like you have a good gun there.~Andrew
