It may not be a issue but I recently got a new Marlin 60 and the bolt seems to be really loose. Is it supposed to be like that or is there something I need to do to fix it.

"I need to do to fix it" If your handy sure. If not Check YouTube . They have tutorials on everything. Audio/Visual. Do a search on the Marlin 60 loose bolt problem.

Well, new as in brand new out of box or used new to you? Does need to be free for bolt locking action but a lot of fore and aft would raise some concern.

The charging handle on the Marlin 60 is designed to lock the bolt back by pushing in on the handle. Supposed to be "loose".

How loose is it? It could be pretty lose and not be a mechanical problem ,however, too loose for me woul irritate me,is it loose enough to hear clatter when shooting? That would be really loose, and I have never seen one too loose to bother me,but I have seen some bad fitting stuff on Remins, wood and steel .you could order a new handle.
