I have inherited a Marlin 39A, with a serial # of 128 engraved on it. It has no other markings. Trying to find out year made and possible value. It does not have any other letters or numbers. Just 128 Can anyone help me?

Take some good pictures and there will be someone on here that can tell you about the rifle. It should have a serial number but you save engraved. Does it look uniformed and stamped?

The article I have from American Rifleman written in 1984 lists the serial number prefixes for 39's. "12" would be 1988 I think (1982=18; 1983=17; 1984=16.....).
