Hello,
I am new to the forum and was looking for some input on a 39A I bought new back in the 80's. The serial number indicates 1985 manufacture. It came with a gold trigger and does not have the safety. By 1985, didn't Marlin add the safety and lose the Golden trigger?

That was my understanding. I always wondered why mine came the way it did. It was brand new when I got it and have all the paperwork and box.

I got it as a teen and shot it many times. Not as much later in life. It comes out once in a while, but I take good care of it.

I think the crossbolt safety was added to the 39a in 1988 and renamed it the 39as. They dropped the s later on but kept the safety until the end of production.

As VWmadog posted they added the safety around 1988, and as far as the gold trigger it was just 2 years 82 and 83 when they were Not gold. After that they went back to gold.
