I bought this Marlin 336CS from a pawn shop last week, I've taken the thing apart and cleaned the barrel/bore/bolt etc and oiled the moving parts real good with a kit I bought and following a professional video I saw on youtube. Fired about 20 rounds at a target out in my friend's field at about 75 yards. My shots never strayed more than 3 or 4 inches from the dot in the bullseye, so the barrel is clearly straight and good. According to the serial, the gun was made in 1985.
However, the magazine tube is slightly warped to the left, it was like this when I bought it. You have to look down from the top of the gun to notice that the tube is protruding to the left a couple of millimeters. The magazine has no problems feeding. I suspect it was dropped at some point in its life. My main concern is, could this be tugging on the barrel and causing it to warp over time slightly too? I suppose if it was dropped soon after it was made, then its been warped this whole time and caused no problems, but if it was dropped shortly before it was pawned, then I just don't have enough gun experience to know for sure. You guys know your stuff. Is this a problem?
Thank you.
