My Dad has a 336 in 44 mag with a Z prefix that is in perfect condition that he bought new. Pretty sure he still has the box too. That thing is sweet!

Boys, to me that gun looks well used and a bit rough; no butt plate and what appears to be a pinned stock. You must have overlooked this GB auction: "Marlin model 336 in 44magnum (44mag) lever action Auction # 238267328"; has a starting bid of $400 (no bids yet); and a buy it now of $500. Condition wise, this gun is light years ahead of the 336/44 Mag noted above (and no, I have no connection to this auction).
