My local shop just got in a used but great shape 336 .44 Mag with crossbolt safety. The owner had some customers come in and I did not get a chance to get the serial #, any idea on what years this would have been made?

Thanks

Must have been a 1894 instead of a 336 if it had a crossbolt safety on it.The 336's that were made in 44 mag were made back in the 1960's long before the crossbolt safety came along.

It may be, he had his new helper call me to give me the Marlin Daily News.

This will require a visual check.

That would be correct; any Model 336 chambered in 44 Mag and having the CBS feature would represent some kind of aftermarket conversion, which may or may not be well done. The actual Model 336/44 Mag was discontinued after 1967; while the Model 336 with the CBS feature was not introduced until 1983.

I'm afraid it may be love at first sight. I loves me some .44 Mag and I don't and have never owned one in a rifle.

I talked to my .44 Mag revolvers and they all agreed that it would be nice to have a .44 Mag rifle, they were actually quite happy.

Now, to convince the wife!
