Can you simply ream out a 336 30-30 barrel to 30-30 ai by simply removing the bolt, or do you have to set the barrel back? I thought I had heard of someone doing this with good results, but I don't remember. Has anyone tried it? Would it work?

All that it requires is to ream out the chamber to AI configuration. Any gunsmith can do it.

Course once you have the 30-30 AI gun, then you have to get the 30-30 AI dies if you're gonna reload. So you get 100 more fps.

So I'm curious, what do you think the AI will get you that Hornady Leverevolution ammo won't give you without changing the rifle??

Well I was planning on using some cast bullets, not leverevolution. I'm trying to see if I can feasibly make a 30-30 ai to compare to a 308 ME with the added bonus of cheaper brass. I also thought the increase was more significant, like up to 200fps.
