Gorgeous!!!!
Nice job. REALLY nice job!!!

I agree with BC, though. That rifle would be smoking hot with an 18-1/2" octagonal barrel!!!

My personal preference for octagon barrels is long, like 24" or more..

rbertalotto,
Very nice project, with great results. :)
I have a 1895 CB, that I would like a heavier barrel on but wonder what the cost would be?
I see that I can get an octagon barrel blank in .458 caliber from Green Mountain pretty reasonable. The part that I would like to know is about how much $$ to fit / headspace the barrel to my marlin action plus mill the dovetails for mag tube, sights etc.?

Are you sure those GM barrels are for smokeless powder. All the GM barrels in the Brownell''s catalog are for Black Powder.

I was told by a number of smiths that do this type of work that you are looking at $500-$700 to install an octagon barrel on a rifle that had a round tube. Seems reasonable since it took me about 3 hours once I had the old barrel off. Three hours of work, buying the barrel and hot blueing it should easily cost $500.
