Hi folks
Just joined after searching the forum
I inherited a 22 and it is in really good shape and quite a shooter!

It is a Marlin 22 model 39 and the barrel stamp reads:
The Marlin Firearms Co. -- Model 39
New Haven Conn. USA. 22 S L LR
The serial number is C9457
It is blued and has a round barrel. The magazine follower is a brass tube with a steel tip

Can anyone tell me the specific model (is this a 39 or a 39 A etc)?
When it was manufactured?
Any other pertinent info?
And an estimate of the gun's value?

You have a nice 39a made in 1945 if the serial number starts with a capital C the size of the numbers. A c smaller than the numbers in the serial number would mean 1946. They are great rifles and fun to shoot. The side of the receiver is factory tapped for a peep sight if someone chooses to use one. Depending on your area and condition they run from $550. to $650. most days.

Beautiful old 39a. Heirloom pieces like this should be cherished. You will love it. Learn about it, as there is plenty of articles and instructional videos on youtube. Then shoot it. It is considered the finest, quintessential 22lr lever ever made. Welcome to the forum from Georgia.
