I've started working up loads for an upcoming wild boar hunt, and I'd like to use the Cast Performance 405 gr LWNGC bullet.
I have everything ready to go, but, I just noticed that the seater plug on my RCBS dies are "RN" (round-nose) and this just won't work for these wide flat-nosed boolits!

I picked up some Speer 350 gr Hot-Core JFN boolits, too, to try.

Does anyone know where I can order/pick-up a FN seater plug for this die??? (For delivery this week!)
(I did see in Midway USA's catalog that they have a seater plug for a 500 gr BP boolit, but, I'm not sure if that would work.)

My time is getting close, for this trip.
I suppose that I could use either some Winchester or Federal 300 gr JHP factory loads, if I can't find a seater plug.

Thanks in advance!!

Have you tried seating a bullet with that round nose plug? I shoot Lee 427-405 flat nose cast bullets and use the round nose plug without any problems. Key

Just got off the phone with RCBS!!!!!
(Like a dummy, I didn't write down the CS guy's name.) ???

I explained my circumstances and the CS guy said that he's sending a SWC seater plug for the .45-70 in today's mail.
I asked how much the charges were, and he said. . . . . No Charge!

He said to try this SWC seater plug, and IF it doesn't work, to either file/grind the shoulder off of the plug, or fill it with epoxy and let it harden.

A custom-made seater plug for those Cast Performance LWNGC boolits would take 7 weeks to produce, due to their workload.

I told him that I've got some 350 gr Speer Hot-Cor boolits, and he said that this seater plug should work with them.
I might just fill the RN seater plug with either epoxy or JB Weld, and file that flat.

ETA: THANK YOU, RCBS!!!

I use the flat seater plug from my 45acp seater die (RCBS).

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I'll have to look.
I don't think it'll work, though.

If I'm not mistaken, the pistol seater plug is 1/4 x something threads (28 maybe) and the rifle dies are 1/2 x 20 thread.

As soon as I get home (at work, now) I'll check. Thanks!
