I think someone had a similar question in the reloading section some time back. Most (or all) of the plated bullet manufactures recommend keeping their bullets
at a max. vel. about the same a lead bullets. It's been discussed that only applies to handgun bullets and not rifle bullets. FWIW, I tried loading a 150 gr. fn. with
numerous powders with vels. from about 1200 to 2200fps. I didn't get any unusual fowling or bullets "blowing apart". But, I could not find anything that shot better
than approx. 3 in. groups at 100 yrds..
The kicker is, I got 1 1/2 in. groups using a .311 diam. 125 gr. plated bullet from the same co.. Even better, those shot like crap in both my 303 Brit. and 7.62x39 bolt guns.
