LTC (O5), U.S. Army - 1975-1997. Infantry, Transportation, then Force Development at HQDA.

Cold War Germany, Cold War Azores (operations officer of an ocean port!), Operation Desert Shield/Storm/Shield, Operation Provide Hope (based in Turkey). County Seat of Lunacy for five years at the Pentagon.

Considered it an honor to serve. No regrets and enjoyed every assignment I had for one reason or another.

I never did any service time but want to thank all of you that did. Both my grandfathers served in the Army during WWII and my Uncle was in the Navy.

I greatly appreciate all of you who have served or are still serving.

Not me, but I need to list my father: 1st Lt USA Lowell Risch, WWII. Dad was a combat vet and was in D Day invasion. Never spoke a word of it. He did say that they got the sound of the bullets right when I took him to see Saving Private Ryan.

They asked for your service. They didn’t specify for who that service was with. ;)

Spent 14 years in the Texas State Guard. No federal service. I served in five hurricanes Katrina,Rita, Ike, Gustofe and Dean. Served as Chaplain. In the 39th REG. I was looking for a place to serve after 9/11. 54 was to old for federal service. I have a twin brother who was a LTC at the time. He deployed to Iraq we are 71 now and miss the service.

MSgt (E7) AF, May '71 to December '91, much of it on the tactical side. Thank you to all who served our country. It remains strong because of you, and in spite of "them".
