I have an older (early 1960s) straight grip 336 that recently came into my possesion. At some point in time the loop was slightly bent, then subsequently straightened. The results, while not objectionable, are not attractive either.

I have in my possesion a new finger lever intended for a .38-55 Marlin Cowboy. Is there any reason why I cannot use this new lever on my older rifle? I imagine it may have to be fitted in some manner, but is there any other obstacle to its use?

I guess what I am getting at is whether or not a lever might be caliber specific somehow, although I can't imagine how. I suspect as long as it shares the .30-30 head size (.219 zipper, .25-35, .30-30, .32-40, .32 Special, .38-55) I am good to go. I also wonder if there is any difference in the levers intended for .444 or .45-70 models?

Thanks for any info. I am quite sure this has been answered before, but my search skills sometimes leave something to be desired....... :p

That 38-55 lever should fit................If any fitting is needed, it will be very minor.
