I will be in Lake Havasu City, AZ, next month and was wondering if any of you MO members live there or in the surrounding area? I will be working on setting up a firework display for the WPA's Western Winter Blast event for one of the firework shows held at this event. I was hoping to meet up with MO members that live in the area for dinner or drinks one evening while I was there. Post here in the forum or PM me if you're interested in meeting up and talking Marlins, AZ hunting, what places I need to check out while I'm there, or anything else a Marlin Owner talks about.

.......pm you if we go!
Hope you guys can make it. It's always great to meet someone face to face that you've met on MO! The hotel rates are very reasonable around there, I expected it to be a lot higher. The last hotel we stayed in the cost per night was 4.5-5 times more per night, so I was more than very happy with the rates. My wife has been wanting to go to Lake Havasu for a while now and is excited about going. She's been looking up other events and things to see and do while I'm at the raceway with Spirit of '76 laying out the fireworks and wiring them up for Saturday night's show. There's two shows, one on Friday night and the one we're setting up on Saturday night. I was told that if you're a spectator you need to get to the raceway early to get a good seat as a lot of folks show up. From the events I saw going on, it looks like Lake Havasu City is going to be a busy place that weekend.

lever30, next year we definitely need to meet up. Western Winter Blast was pretty awesome and folks get a chance to see all kinds of fireworks as most of the displays utilize consumer to professional class fireworks. If you join the organization and become a member, at this event members can order professional grade fireworks or go to one of the manufacturing tents in the manufacturing area and make the shells yourself with an instructor and set them off in the evening during the open shoot hours. Before and after the public firework displays is when the open shooting occurs and you'll see some pretty amazing fireworks exploding high in the sky with special effects that were made that day on the premises. Our show took about two - two and half days to set up, It took a day to a day and a half to get all of the fireworks e-matched and stationed, and a day to place them at specified locations around the track and then connect the wires to the fire control boxes, 85 boxes with 18 cues each, and the show was over in about 16 minutes. This isn't counting the time it takes to select and mix the soundtrack and then choreograph when and what fireworks to go off at a specific point in time during the soundtrack. It is definitely worth all of the work when you hear the crowd responding to the show!
This is the link to the show we put on that evening. I think there were four, maybe five different displays that evening.

Went to a little town called Freeman, which is a little south of Kansas City, yesterday for a club shoot. We shot both the 1.3 and 1.4 class fireworks. There were five choreographed shows with music, an open shoot, and several that were hand shot, (fuse lit by torch not by electronic match). After the afternoon setup we had a big dinner at the house and afterwards we cranked up the PA system with some great music and shot off the fireworks that were across the pond. This bunch loves the loud salutes, (the ones that go up and explode with a very loud bang and have a bright white flash of light), so there were a lot of those and a great mix of colorful ones as well. It was a great time! I didn't get home till early this morning around 1:00am or so and didn't realize how tired I was till I laid down and then it was lights out!
