Truth be told (from my part :)) is that with my eyes as they are, I was forced to scope my GG as well. I found that the factory sights lack something for me....ahhh......like being able to see them!

I went for a Leapers long eye relief Gen 5 series scope mounted with conventional Weaver mounts and rings. I am pleased with the results. The scope was $65 delivered and the bases and rings locally were around $20 all told. My groups have shrunk to where I am still amazed at how much better the weapon shoots...Mag is from 1.5X to 4X with ill. mil-dot and this puppy is short and sits well on the weapon. Since I took the pic, the scope was moved forward a might so it doesn't hang over the reciever as much.

So glad that you have fixed up your stubby Marlin. The GG is a real sleeper as far as being an accruate weapon. I've had only one or two bolt guns that could do better out to 200 yds. The GG is just one fine shooter!

And I too am waiting for a range report on your progress with your piece!

I have the exact same set up, also thanks to Eli's write up. Second range trip out this past weekend, scope worked flawlessly. No noticeable shift in POI taking it off and putting it back on either. My only quibble is with the QD rings. Those little silver pieces that sit in the slots have a nasty habit of falling out. Probably I'm loosening the rings too much, but it's annoying as can be and I'd hate to have to do it in the field expecting to put the scope back on the rifle.

30 rounds of 45-70 and counting.

I've looked through scout scope setups before, but they are just not for me. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, or maybe it's just me, but I prefer looking 'through' something rather than looking 'at' something.

I range tested my GG the first time with an old Redfield 1x7. I was astounded by the accuracy. (Still am). My GG will one hole 5 round groups at 50 yards with LASERCAST 405's. I then went to a full XS sight rail with the Ghost ring and new front blade. Lines up fast and is minute of hog at 100. Then I tried a 1-7 pistol scope on the front and found that I agree with BEACON. It worked flawlessly (meaning scope accuracy to 150 yards), but, I just don't really love it. Latest plan... mount my Aimpoint mini red dot (T1). I have one I use on my 327 Mag Blackhawk for hunting. It works well as far as fit and function on my XS rail. I need to take it to the range and see.
I LOVE my GG. As accurate a lever gun as I have ever seen. thanks rc

When I scoped my GG I too was astounded by how accruate it is. I have no idea what Marlin did with this weapon, but it rivals some of the best bolt guns I've had in the past. The GG is just plain tight when it comes to getting the bullet in the right spot! I sure do enjoy mine. Glad you have the same type of accruacy from yours!

My loads are kinda old style as I tend to paper patch more that use plain lubed, but both are right on the money!
