I was out coyote hunting night before last in anew property I just got permission to hunt on.
Topping the hill to where I was going to set-up and ...the field is full of turkeys !
Not wanting to spook them because the hunt opens in 2 weeks, I circled around and set-up in a secondary spot. Set up the remote call and mojo critter decoy.
I wasn't sitting more than 2 minutes and I hear gobbling from the field behind the decoy. A couple of wounded pup calls and hear comes this jake running towards the call and decoy.
He hung around for about 10 mins pecking the ground and circling the moving decoy while I was calling. Then just wandered off into the woods.
Weird, I thought for sure when he heard the coyote howls he would start running for the hills.
I know where I'm turkey hunting opening day !!
