Grab something in 35Rem, it will take down the pigs! I just got mine ready to go and I'm working on zeroing it now, very light recoil, and with a 200gr pill will definitely do in the porkers no matter how large!
Here's something for the marlinitis!
Top two are 45-70's GBL and SBL (both with 18"bbls), but the bottom rifle is a customized 336 in 35Rem with a 16"bbl...I think this is what you should be looking for!

You shouldn't have to load a 30-30 "light", it is pretty light as it is. Look at a 150gr bullet over a 170gr and you should do fine. Lighter the bullet the less recoil. I'd say shoot some factory stuff first and see what you think before you get too crazy. Plus, you could change the butt stock out for a limb saver and I guaruntee that you won't feel any recoil with that!

Actually ANY of the rifles in the calibers mentioned so far will do what you need! I would hunt hog with any of them! In fact, I have all of them! Now I just need to go find some pigs!
