I just checked my rule book to refresh my memory. Yes, the 35 Rem. is a legal cartridge for CLA.

The cartridge rule states: Any lever action center fire rifle 25 caliber or larger with a tubular magazine of original manufacture or replica thereof. A rimmed case loaded with a round or flat nosed bullet must be used. Exception:35 Remington is allowed.

Liked the accuracy and knockdown (before the rule change on setting rams) I found it tough on the shoulder with 200 gr lead GC bullets and switched to a 30-30 with 170 gr.

I use mine sometimes.I shoot 180 gr remington sjhp's at 1950 or so.158 gr pistol bullets at 2400 are too hard on the chickens.

I have shot a 336sc at the CLA matches at Wagner,SD since it is alegal caliber. Load is an RCBS cast bullet 200 gr FN. I'm running them at 1900 fps which is more velocity than needed but it is also a very succesful deer load.

I've been using mine with the Ranch Dog 190 and a case full of Trailboss. Light recoil, very accurate and have never rung a ram. Haven't chronographed it but I'd estimate 1200-1300 fps.
