I noticed the other day that my Marlin 1894C is an oddball.
It has the serial # on the left sid eof the frame like a coboy gun and it does not have the 2 screws on the left side of the frame you would use to mount an apertur sight.
Serial # is 98205###. That would make it an '02 correct?
When did they cease using the 2 screws on the left sideplate?
My '00 model 1894S has them.

Is this odd or are they all made up like this?
Thanks!

They quit putting the screw holes on the side in either 00 or 01, and the reason for the serial number on the side is to facilitate putting on a tang sight.

And yes, your 98# in an 02 model.

Makes sense to me but I thought they only put the serial # on the side of the receiver on the Cowboy guns.
