This is really sad to see; but there is an interesting Gunbroker auction (Auction # 234204841 early 1950 marlin 336 sc lever 30 30 parts .01 nr) listed there where a rare 336SD is being sold as a "parts gun" with no reserve. This appears to be a late 50's gun with the rare Monte Carlo stock; the original stock is broken, but the balance of the gun would clean up pretty good with some competent TLC. And since the original broken stock is included, it might be possible to repair the stock using some of the miraculous epoxy materials available these days; otherwise it could be used as a pattern to make a replacement to original specs At any rate, if this piece could be bought right (currently at $87); this would make an excellent project.

buy it and restore it. stocks are pretty easy--- worst case remove and replace!
