Hello Marlin Owners:
I have aquired an old H&R shotgun.I would like to find out when it was made.Contacted H&R, they could not help, their records only go back to 1941.Told to contact Rem. historians.
E-mailed them,but have not heard back from them yet.Would appreciate any help.Also the butt
plate has been replaced,would like to put it back to original. Need info on type of butt plate &
where I can find one.The shotgun is a Reenforced Breech 16 ga., nickel plated breech.The gun
has a five digit all number serial number on bottom tang.Thanks for any help.

Heard back from H&Remlin "historians". THEY know nothing!!!

They were only interested in buying the companies, not their history.

You got that right. All history before 1941 is gone for H&R apparenttly.The H&Remlin,so called,
historians know no more than the rem. trainees that put my Cowboy together. JUNK before I had it fixed.
E-mailed Cody museum, maybe they know something or someone.

Go to Rugerforum.com to the collectors section. A gentleman there with the screen name lovemydalls is a serious H&R collector.
Post your enquiry there and he'll probably get back to you. (I sold him a raft of H&R memorabilia that I had accumulated when I worked for H&R back in the late 70's.)
