ok so this guy wants to trade for a gun i dont really use anymore

he has a winchester 94
he took it in on a trade, he never shoots it

serial number is 43887XX

anybody know what year it is, im looking for something i can beat thru the woods with, wondering if this is any good or not

i told him i would pass, selling my gun and hopefully picking up a 336cs early next week from a guy, says its mint, less than 20 rounds down the pipe...pics look spotless

Thats a better choice as far as I am concerned. I have both the win. is old pre 1930 I believe. win's rattle, eject up(they strange that way) and it makes putting a scope on different,not that i would scope a 30-30.
My dad's 336 is 50+ yrs old and solid no rattles no jams and ejects to the side I will treasure every trip to the field with it.

I agree you are better off waiting on the Marlin. The Pre 64 Winnys are nice for what they are but the post 64's always seemed cheap to me..
