I've just found this sight! Very nice resource.
I am the proud owner of an 1882 rifle in 45/70 made in 1883. Also an 1893 in 32-40 made in 1885.
I also have two Marlin Ballard's, one in 22LR as it has a cast receiver and finally my baby I fully rebuilt a basket case #5 into 40-60 one of the most accurate rifles I own.

I'll get some pics up soon

Hey Keith- Welcome to the Marlin Owners Family from Texas! You probably had a typo, but was your 1893 made in 1895? Just thought I'd ask. Again, Welcome!

Gun Porn is good!!! I will get some pics to share in the next few days.
I'm pretty sure that when I did a S/N search on my 93 it said made in '95 easy to double check.
I shoot all of them as most of my Lever guns are refinished, Save a M95 ( from those other guys).
You see years ago gunsmith schools would round up all these of worthless rifles and turn the students loose on them. Nobody hurt them or did anything horrible other than take away any value they had by refinishing them. It just makes them shooters although some could be restored to original. The 93 is a good example.

My #5 was found at a BPCR match in Big Timber Montana, a toasted barrel, horrible wood... New barrel, real bone case colors... Claro walnut, all those things than make sense on a nice Ballard.:)
Indeed Marlinitis has got me, I have a '98 12 Gauge as well! :)
