I have a number of hornady 170gr interlocks on hand. Ive tried loads with two different powders and my accuracy hasnt been what id like. Anyone use these bullets? Wondering what powders your rifles seem to like. Ive tried IMR4064 and H335. My 336W does pretty well with Winchester 170gr power points. Id like to load something like those but less expensive than factory ammo. Thanks!

Just a suggestion, although different bullet (same weight) and completely different powder .....

Admittedly, it was only 50 yards (but was shooting through the chrono wires) ... but it was repeated a couple of times as well. The LeverEvolution powder does seem to work well in my 30-30.

32 grains of W748 under a 170 is my favorite! I have heard H335 and W748 are really close though. So it may not work for you. I also use H4895 in a different 30/30 but it is with 150 grain bullets. That is a phenomenal combination.

Thank you, I will give them both a try and maybe pick up some 150s soon.

I responded to your other post too. I have an old Texan that does this to me with that 170 load. I went to 150s and 33.5 grains of H4895 and wow......problem solved for me. I know you will get it, just keep trying.

Another vote for 29.5 grains IMR3031. Federal 210 is my primer of choice for all centerfire rifle loads.

like art said - could just be rifle preference - but try 29.5gr/3031 before you give up....
I second that recommendation. The 30/30 and IMR®3031 go together like bread and butter.

I reload the Hornady 170 grain FP Interlock over a full charge of Varget. I think it is probably a compressed load. I tried Varget because I had so much of it on hand. Out of my 336RC waffletop the accuracy is unbelievable off the bench.
