Found one earlier this week and should be picking it up next week. It looks almost brand new, not bad for a pre WWI shotgun. Anyone have any recommendations for a good reduced load factory shells for 16 guage?

Be certain it is chambered 2-3/4"... I'm not particular I suppose, the 16 does well with most any low base load.

When I was young, I bought a 16 ga double that kicked like heavy 12 ga loads. I went to load the Federal paper hulls with a Lee loader and discovered that the crimped area was being shredded.

At this point, I learned about the 2 9/16 chambers in 16 ga. Not to be defeated, I took a razor blade with a piece of dowling and trimmed the cases back.

With some over shot wads cut from thin cardboard, that little Lee Loader would make a very nice roll crimp, just like the original loadings.

I don't remember the exact load, but it would have been about 3/4 oz shot and a plastic wad over a charge of Red Dot.
