Hi there, hello from Yorkshire in the UK.

Been looking at a marlin for a while. Now got my licence amended to give me a 357 and a 44 slot.

Licence landed Thursday. Thought I'd have a long wait for a 357 as they are very thin on the ground over here. Found one locally that I think is a proper marlin.

1894C has a 96 serial number and is stamped with a JM on one side and LP and 94 the other. Also what looks like a triangle or a crown and NP.

Applying the serial number test looks like mine is a 2004 model, but wonder why it has the 94 stamped on the barrel?

If anyone can shed any light on the markings and what they mean that would be great.

Told it has the ballard rifling and the barrel looks like the rifling in my tikka t3, so not the microgroove version.

Not shot it yet only got it yesterday. Seems in good condition not a great deal of wear to the top of the bolt. Great price, much less than the £900-£1200 ($1500-$1700) that they're going for in 357 here in the UK. Our main source has only 1 in 357 that's still being proofed as it's an import and that will be 2nd hand and £1000

Now just looking for a nice stock shell holder in leather over here in the UK. If anyone has nay recommendations please let me know.

Just ordered a skinner peep for it and cant wait to shoot it later this week or at the weekend.

Love the site can't wait to learn more and to find a nice 44 :)

Pleased to have joined the club.
