I just acquired 4 one pound, unopened, and sealed canisters of Hercules 2400 powder. All info. that I can find indicates that it is the same as Alliant 2400.

Although I have used 2400 in magnum pistol cartridges for many years, I find little to no information for it's use with the 444.

Powder shortages make strange bed fellows. Maybe it's not ideal with a 444, but I think there is a potential there. Can anyone point me in the right direction for loading this powder with a 290 grain gas-checked Beartooth bullet. ( or any heavier bullet). Would .44 magnum loading data work?

I'm looking for 1500 to 1600 fps. through an 18" barrel.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

I've heard that the newer 2400 is slightly faster burning than the old. Might want to look into that.
