Oh boy fellas...……..
for those of you who recognize what your looking at...…...If you are not drooling.....there is no hope for you!

What we have here is a very rare rifle in amazing condition considering it is 98 years old.

This is the elusive Savage model 1920 bolt action rifle produced in 1920.

She is in the vintage 300 savage caliber.

This is the first ever produced commercially offered sporting bolt action rifle.....ever.

It was produced shortly after WW1 .

Many savage collectors rever this as the finest rifle ever produced by Savage.Notice the stock very closely resembles the Savage 99 (another favorite of mine).

This also happens to be the first one I have ever seen in person.I have only ever seen pictures.
This rifle only weighs 5.2 lbs and points amazing.

I will be shooting her today.

This for sure is a once in a lifetime find for me.
I am in search of a Lyman #54 sight if anyone has a lead.
Thanks for looking....I will be posting pic's in a minute

Very nice. I didn't realize they were set up to use stripper clips. Are there any other tapped holes besides the two on the left side? I'm thinking it once had some sort of side mounted scope on it, but I'm drawing a blank on a mount that would use just two holes that close together.

WOW! You are one lucky dawg, Fran! I've only seen pictures but never one in the wild. So whats the story on finding this gem?

These have a very intriguing action and I'd appreciate some over head shots of it with the bolt open and locked.

that one has been on my list for a while! the 300 is one of my favorites! but in the slim 1920 I would like one in a 250-3000,,,,,,,,,,

that is a nice rifle you have!

Believe it or not......unlike the model 99......
The model 1920 had far fewer rifles produced in 300 davage.
The majority were 250-3000.
And yes...if I ever see one...it will come with me.
