Hi all,

I have a Henry carbine in .41 mag and since I actually have ammo for it, I was thinking about using it on deer next month. I plan on using the Remington 210 gr JSP HTP’s.

Have any of you used these or anything similar on deer? If so, how did they perform ?

Thanks!

K

Only deer I have ever taken with a 41, was with my 6.5" BH and a 210 gr cast.
That was at about 20-25 yds. and she went straight down.

But at the moment my Henry BBS is sitting over here loaded with some WFN 276+gr cast over some H110.
Awaiting my next outing, which was going to be tomorrow but we have rain moving in over night and suppose to linger all day. So maybe Fri. or this weekend, hoping for a shot at 100 yds. or less.

I haven't shot a deer with my 1894, yet, but several I shot with my Blackhawk dropped on the spot or didn't make 30 yards. In the carbine I expect the same or better performance. The .41 magnum is far better then the press it gets.

The only experience I have hunting with a 41 mag is with a 4.5" Ruger super Blackhawk on a 170lb hog at 80 yards. Took out ribs, heart, lungs and off side shoulder. It kept right on going out the othe side.

210gr Hornady xtp loaded with H110. 50 yards is about as far as I have shot one. It's heavy timber where I hunt. I sight it in at 100 yards.

I have shot deer to 120 yds with my bbs carbine. 210 nosler jhp over h110 shoots through over 100 yds. Also 210 xtp works well.
