I picked up a Mosin Nagant yesterday. I assume it is a Model 44 as it is a carbine with the permanently attached spike bayonet. On the receiver it has 1953, a serial number, and what appears to be a circular stamp with what appears to be a hammer and sickle. It also has a 2 stamped on the bolt and on the stock. All matching numbers except the bolt.

Thanks Rick. I found the B in a circle just in front of the 02 on the stock.

Yours looks like the twin of mine. I need to break it down and do some cleaning. Gonna shoot it sometime later today

Congrats on your "new" M44. I have an M44 with the triangle /1\ that has just recently been debunked as East German. It is still a great rifle and I like it.

Great looking rifle Wolfstein!! I wish I was more of a gun smith so I could do work like that Rick.
