New 2005 Marlin .45-70 owner. Saw an outstanding YouTube on "What is a brush gun" that contrasted how heavy brush affects different calibers at 50 yards. A fantastic demonstration for why size matters. With the exception of my old 12-gauge, my firearms are about home defense. I wanted a deer rifle for no more than 200 yards out that I would enjoy shooting. Thought about a bolt action, but there's something beautiful about lever-action rifle design. The Marlin is iconic. And then someone was selling a barely used JM out on Gunbroker and it called to me. I'm probably a week or so from its arrival. Looking forward to learning from all of you and participating on this forum.
