Just purchased a 1895gs. Always wanted a 45-70. Time to give my ol Browning. 308 a rest. I'm sure I'll have some questions about this round and it's performance. Right now reading old posts and seeing what I can learn.

Just a few notes from a member and 45-70 owner;
If you do not reload, you will find the 45-70 a great caliber to start the journey.
There is nothing like a full power 405 gr bullet from a lever 1895 to clear up any sinus congestion you may have. You can extract from the recoil the impact on the receiving end. A 7 pound rifle designed to pack far and shoot once calls for reloading if you plan to target shoot.
If you find a need for advice on reloading, you are in the right place.
