Hi All,

Just picked up my new 1894C in .357mag, and after putting 125 rounds through it the other afternoon, I was grinning ear to ear, the Marlin bug has bitten me hard. I think with the low recoil and fun factor, it will be enough to get my wife into the shooting sports.

My dealer had 6 1894C's on the shelf to choose from, and I spent half an hour going over them to find the best put together and timbered rifle. It is a 91 serial number, with JM marks on the barrel. This forum has been a fantastic resource for helping me choose a rifle and what to look for in terms of quality, much appreciated.

My intentions for it are lever action silhouette matches, and to bowl over a few pigs and goats. It may get graced with an XS sights lever rail and ghost ring sight set over the next few months, maybe a scout scope if the eyes continue to degrade. Any photos of an 1894 with a lever rail fitted would be appreciated.

The next purchase will be a 336BL to put some venison in the freezer.

Just a quick question, is it better to adjust windage from the front or rear sight? It is shooting flat but about 4" to the right at 100 metres.

Good to be here.

Adjust windage by moving the rear sight "tappy de tap" with a brass punch and a small hammer will do the job. Move the rear sight the way you want the point of impact to go.
Welcome to MO, by the way, I'm from North Coast NSW.

Welcome to Marlin Owners from Eastern Ontario, Cda. (Ottawa)

I always move the rear sight for windage, assuming of course that the front site already centered.

Sincerely,

JDP
