Hey everyone.
My name is Rich, and I'm an addict. A gun addict of course. I have everything from new AKs to 60 year old Browning A5s in mint condish. I was craving a new .22 lever action, but I wanted quality. So I went online and pulled up every forum from best lever action, to favorite gun and the same gun kept popping up. The Marlin 39... So I decided to try and find a new one and to my disappointment I found out about the "Remlins" and all the things that happened in the past 15 years to the quality. Upset by the fact I wasn't going to be able to purchase a new 39 off the shelf with the quality that I wanted from the older Marlins, I settled on a Henry Boy due to price and reviews. So I went to my closest dealer, (Cabelas), to get my fix.
I always check out the gun library first, just because I like to drool at some of the gun porn flaunted at me, for usually 20% mark up over Blue Book Price. The gentlemen said "can I help you?", and with that I asked him if he happened to come across any Marlin 39? He looked at me with a smirk and said follow me. I started to get that feeling in my stomach that I get when Lady Luck starts tapping me on my shoulder. He walks in the back and comes out with a 1970 Marlin 39 Century Limited with the Octagon barrel land gold medallion on the side of the receiver. However no placard on stock. He handed it to me and I thought he was handing me a brand new gun. This gun must have been a safe queen cause there's not a freckle or hairline blemish on this gun. I almost didn't even look at the price tag because I was so elated over the basically new gun he handed me with an octagon barrel that had the old Marlin quality. We'll I'm glad I looked at the price because it said $600. I asked if there was any wiggle room and he said he can knock off another $25. To be honest I would have bought it anyway due to the fact I'll probably never get this opportunity again without being able to hold the gun before I bought it.
I purchased my new favorite gun that I consider new because it's been fired less than 500 times. And hey, it came with the original owners manual and box! Well, that's my story and sorry it's so long. Turns out the gun is 1 of 35,000 ever made with this set up in 1970. It's basically a Mountie with a 20" octagon barrel and straight stock. Man does it shoot perfect. I easily took her apart, lubed her up and waxed the stock. I have to say it's the prettiest damn 22lr I've ever had. Thanks for listening but I figured that's why your here.
Sincerely,
Rich

Wow!!! Surprised to see another S. jersey member. I'm I'm Atlantic County. Curious if you ever heard of Bangers?
Yes, Bangers is on Piney Hollow Road in Winslow. This range is not to far from the "Hutton Hill Rifle & Revolver Club" in Winslow that I belong too. Hutton Hill is a nice club that is not over crowded. You can Google it up. I also still have my house in Moorestown but now live and spend most of my time in the great gun friendly state of Pennsylvania.
