Am I doing something wrong? I tried to put the hammer spur on that came with my rifle and it wont fit, either side or any direction. The slot in the spur is quite a bit too small to slide on.

I can't imagine it would be under sized but it could be. First, make sure the set screw is turned out far enough to allow clearance and check if it has a burr or an over flap of ground metal inside opening. If it don't then call and ask for another one, I bet they have more. If that don't fix it, and I hope it do, your hammer may be over sized or to thick. :-\

I actually took the set screw out completely because I thought that was it but it is just the wrong size for the hammer apparently. I guess I'm glad to hear someone else got the wrong size hammer spur. Its not a huge deal I can still comfortably reach the hammer under my scope without it.

The only reason I mention the set screw is because I have had small stupid things like that get in my way. Its just one of those things. ;D

I find that the hammer spurs nearly always loosen up and have to be re-tightened on every trip, and during the hunt. Ive even applied loctite and still wriggles off. I own 4 marlin levers and they all do it. Actually my 39A wouldnt even fit on properly . Lost one out in the bush a few months back now. I pulled them off now as It could be dangerous when de-cocking. JMHO.

Go to the reference section and see Big Medicine's fix for hammer spur loosening. It's fast, easy and it works. I use it with all the hammer spurs on the newer guns.
