My friend that has his FFL, posted this.

Marlin 336CS 35 Remington at Gunbroker item number 975929778

I don't need it. My nephew has my father's 336 in .30-30. That rifle has taken exactly one deer. I'm asking my nephew to borrow that gun for the summer and fall season.

So... now there's local .35 that appears to be in good shape.
Like I said, "Don't need it, but maybe I do."

Need has little to do with "Marlinitis" as far as I can tell. Just get yourself a 35 and the sickness will become impossible to reject. In fact you may even become a carrier of "Marlinitis" as I am.

Looks like you are headed in the right direction. After shooting that one you may decide you need a few others.
Don't do it. Everybody says they can stop whenever they want to. Just read through all the different posts, you'll see they can't.

My first centerfire rifle was a used Marlin in .35 Rem., at the tender and naive age of 19. My buddy talked me into swapping it for a brand new Win. M-94 in .30-30 a few months later. (Naive AND foolish.) I like the .30-30 cartridge a lot, and now have a few different rifles; but I have regretted giving up that .35 for at least the last 40 years or so. Probably won't ever get another (getting too old & too broke), and my 'Marlinitis' has since progressed to the 44-caliber stage (Mag. & .444) anyway. But I'll repeat what everyone else says, "I can quit anytime I want to, it's not a problem...." ;-)

In this area, deer camps (mostly family) use .30-30 or .30-06. A new in-law brought in a .308 and he was then an 'out-law'. I'm not sure where I would land if I showed up with a .35 Rem.

I showed up with a .350 Legend this year and wasn't too happy with bullet performance.
I'm going to work on my nephew. Dad's rifle needs to take a few more deer.
