I have been working on a small room that I have in my home work shop.
This will be the GUN ROOM.
The room is 10' X 12"
Not real big ,
But I can now get into reloading..
I don't want gun powder out with the welding..
So far I have pored a floor and started with the first layer on insulation 1 1/2 foam board..
6mil plastic between the insulation and metal siding
Next will 2 " foam board on all walls and ceiling ..
Then,,I can stud out the walls and run some power
I will be putting in batted insulation in the walls ..
It gets cold up here in the winter..
The barn has 6" walls .
Getting a sub panel for electric in the room..
I hope that this room will be like a humidor for the guns ,powder ,and maybe my lathe and mill..
Will need a dehumidifier and a heat source next..
I was thinking of infrared heat lamps on a thermostat??? ANY INPUT ON THIS??
Only problem is low ceiling ..6'6 " .. I still have room about 6" short on hitting my head..
Photo is just before the floor was pored..

I hope your wife is ready to lose you to your new Man-cave when it's finished. Try not to neglect her too much when it's done..........and make sure there's an extra seat in there, in case she wants to visit. :D

So true papa john. My reloading room is the garage. I am considering running AC into it, installing a big screen and having a pull out sofa delivered. I already have a back up fridge in there. What more could a married man want.

She did say that she would be seeing less of me ;D
I have a bench at work that they are throwing in the steel scrap hopper..
I will have to modify it some...
And get a top for it..
You think 1" steel plate is too much??
I have 3 pieces 36" square sitting around ..LOL
They weigh 368 pounds each..
That should keep the bench from moving ::)
I have 4 lights for it.
And my boss told me that there 3 four bulb X 4 foot florescent fixtures in the storage barn at work I could have..
I like free stuff !!!
I have a small fridge to go in there also..
No TV ,but a 5 disk CD player..
Maybe a hammock for naps??

I reckon PJ is right about the extra chair, my misses spends just as much time in my loading space as me. I suggested we convert the walking robe to a loading room. I knew she LIKED the idea because she said nothing but gave me a very long gazing stare. Or was it THE LOOK.

infrared heat lamps on a thermostat??? Where would you put them...how does your wife feel about red lights for the man cave
The low ceiling will help on heat cost. don't put heat over your reloading area...in a room that size how about a base board heater.
Not sure about infrared lights but you ain't talking black powder are we.

When it comes to building reloading benches I'll take all the sturdy and solid I can get, but I'm not quite sure you need 1100 rounds of tabletop.

One trick I learned years ago was having a good-sized shelf underneath, and storing all your bullets down there. They act as ballast when you're sizing, case-forming or doing other things that will move a lighter bench. I used a 200-pound 3X8 office door for my table, and it's still not as solid as I'd like it to be. And mine has 800 pounds of shelves and bullets sitting on top to hold it steady!

It will be interesting to see what you decide to use for a heater. I’m not sure about the infrared heat lamps.

Why is it that the hottest days of the year I get time to insulate wall?
It seams that the 100 watt light bulb is butting off more heat than my wood burner.
I have all the foam board up and started with the batted insulation .
It keeps getting warmer in that small room.
It is 85 deg out side and it feels cool when I come out for more supplies or beer.

For heat, throw in an electric baseboard heater on a thermostat. Should put you out around $100.

If you're feeling rich, get a AC/heat pump combination instead.

I got some down time between cutting grass and helping wife around the yard.
All the walls are up
Started with the electric ,ran a 220 line to a sub panel in the room.
Ran a air line in the room also .
Had to put a outlet in one wall before nailing up the plywood.
Rough in two windows ,
One might get a small air conditioner stuffed in the hole..
Going to put the outlets in the ceiling over the bench ,then after the bench is installed
I will put a few outlets in the bench.
Been a hot few days and the light bulb seams to be putting off more heat ..
Should give the walls a coat of paint ::)

NOPE not moving till the housing market gets better.
Or the tax's go up more..
I would move in a hart beet.
But wife ,well you know how that works.
When she is ready to move ,I better start packing!
With the room in the home shop ,should help with selling points.
Mowing the yard won't help.
3 hours cutting time with a 52" zero turn.
1 1/2 hours outside the fence with a 60" woods deck...
