So my old shoulder can't take the punishment of the hard plastic but plate anymore.
And seeing how I like to tinker anyway, I am turning my GG into a Blued SBL long barrel.
This is how it sat in its original configuration when I got it many moons ago.

So far I have installed the XS full rail, Lower Tang and Big Loop.
Took about an hour of hand fitting the loop to the lower tang, a few areas of the loop were over sized compared to the original.
Desided to smooth out the trigger a bit as well.

Thursday the Pepper Laminate stock set should arrive.
I also have the 1895CB mag tube to install, this will increase capacity 2 more rounds.
Here it is waiting for the new stock to arrive.

Well I received the stock set yesterday and got it installed.
Took a bit of fitting on the butt and the forearm, nothing bad, was just a bit to tight.
There is a very small chip on the top at corner of tang, but not noticeable unless you really look for it.
Shouldering is much more comfortable and it balances better.
I am pleased and think it looks great.

Next will be fitting the longer mag tube, that may be a few weeks as the barrel will need
a new dovetail cut up front.
I may also cut the barrel back 1" and drill and tap for the XS ramped sight.
On order will be a Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8X36 mounted in Leupold QRW2 high rings,
That should be just high enough to clear the rear peep sight.

Got my new Leupold 3I 2.5-8X36, the rings are Leupold QRW medium.
I think it fits the 1895 well, not to big.
Also loaded up some Barnes 300gr. TSX FN on top of H4198.
Will go the range Sunday and see how she does.
Next will be the long tube install.

I forgot this was a BO.
Oh well no matter, it is changing anyway.
I love the rifle, but the plastic butt plate is just to hard on the shoulder.

Buy a replacement stock that you can have cut so you can get a Kick-eeZ recoil pad mounted.
Then save the original .

Not sure how any of that helps with recoil.
I might be in the minority but I despise the rails and big lever loops. I always ask "why?".
"It looks cool".

Well the rail and loop do nothing for recoil.
However installing the SBL stock will help with felt recoil a ton.
Also it is handles better for me and balances better.
The big loop has a better feel to me.
I installed the rail because I like a peep sight and I like having the versatility of were I can mount a scope.
My Wife and Daughter like the look and and like you said, "It looks Cool"

Stock is installed
Pics will be up tomorrow in the second post

Any thought of porting the barrel for the recoil factor?
I don't think I will port it, the new stock with the recoil pad should be enough,
Will find out tomorrow morning as I am going to the range.

loaded up some Barnes 300gr. TSX FN on top of 46.0 and 47.0 of H4198
Zeroed 1.25" high @ 100yds.
Only had 5 of each, mostly just making sure the loads were safe.
Anywho the 47.0 did the best with two though the same hole and the 3rd one about 1.25 inches away.
I will try that load again and also bump it up to 48.0
This time I will load 10 of each

I bought a GBL a number of years ago because I liked the extended mag tube and thought I liked the laminate stock. I have since replaced the big loop with a standard sized lever and like how it works for me better than that big loop.
