In my opinion that’s a bit on the high side.Checking in for price update. Looking at a coupe JM stamped guide guns on Gunbroker. One looks to be in mint condition for a "Buy It Now" of $1600 and the other has some wear and tear with bidding starting at $1,300 and a "Buy It Now" of $1,700. What are yal's thoughts? Is $1,600 for a mint condition 1895G about right??
Thanks for the input. Looks like a brand new 1895G goes for under $1k. I understand and appreciate the older JM stamped models, but at a certain point, I'm not sure if the little JM stamp is worth that much of a premium. I hear really good things about the new line of Marlin firearms. It seems the ugly days of the Remlin guns have passed. Thoughts? Get a new 1895G or a JM stamped 1895G for 50% more?In my opinion that’s a bit on the high side.
You're going to LOVE that thing! It's just like mine with factory porting. FWIW, mine shoots MOA with Hornady LeveRevolution 325gr FTX.Here it is...

What’s with JM stamps on the left side while the others are in the right?

IMO, IF you can find a clean JM 1895G for about the same price (or even a little more) than a new Ruger/Marlin model, I'd take the JM. But I surely wouldn't pay a premium like $1600 unless you're just stinking rich and the cost is irrelevant. For THAT kind of dough, the Ruger is the better deal. Thanks for the input. That's the input I'm looking for. Appreciate it. I may bid on the one that is currently at $1,200 but much more than that seems like a price gouge. For THAT kind of dough, the Ruger is the better deal.
I'd say $1600 is a bit high for a G. $900-$1200 is what I've been seeing for the JM stamped 1895G and I have been watching several times a day because I'm looking for a JM stamped 1895 GBL at the moment. Now, if you could find the stainless JM stamped 1895 GS for $1600 you'd be doing goodChecking in for price update. Looking at a coupe JM stamped guide guns on Gunbroker. A couple of weeks ago I did get to handle a couple of Ruger made Marlin's and I have to say that yes, they are nice, but no, I do not prefer the feel of them to my JM's. I didn't like the skinnier hand guard on the Ruger's and the action didn't have the same feel to it eighter. Just my opinion though, I'll stick to chasing after the JM's.Thanks for the input. Interesting. I have an 1866 Winchester Yellowboy which is a pretty heavy rifle. After holding it, then picking up my Winchester 1892 carbine, I almost throw it out of my hands inadvertently because it's soo light compared to the 1866. I do appreciate some heft to a rifle, so I can appreciate the thicker stock on the JM guns as well.I didn't like the skinnier hand guard on the Ruger's and the action didn't have the same feel to it eighter.
Thanks! I'm pleased with it!!Looks pretty freaking mint to me! Very nice!
