New to the 45-70. A new GBL supposed to be here Wednesday. I am wanting a cast bullet for all round hunting and shooting with a fairly light load. (1500 fps). Does anyone have any experience with the Lyman 457122 330 grain Gould Express HP ? Any experience with use on game would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I have not used one as of yet but would like to. They are a Great Old Bullet design for Hunting Deer at Black Powder Velocities. If kept at the FPS that you have stated and less you will not be disappointed in its performance. Everything I have read is in praise of its performance and capability as a Deer Hunting Bullet.

But I will mention that it is a Hollow Point design with a spud. So it will take some time to learn to cast good bullets from the mold. As you will have to cast Hot and keep the spud hot for good fill out of the HP nose and cavity.
