OK, help me out guys. I've pulled most all my hair out on this one.
A friend gave my son a Model 20 in beautiful condition except it constantly misfires. I just replaced the mainspring and firing pin spring and I'm still getting light strikes on the primers. A few times it would misfire and then I'd cock it again and it would go off and then run through the whole mag. The the next mag every one is a light strike. Now, the friend who gave this to me did say it's had this problem for a while (wasn't his gun but a relative's). At one time he fixed it by putting a small drop of JB Weld on the face of the striker. So perhaps the striker is worn too short? Is that possible? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, this is happening with a couple different brands of ammo and I was told the round count by the previous owner was pretty low. The chamber, face and bore are immaculate.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to reply so Late h-bomb. Couldn't get on for a few days.
I did manage to figure it out and I kicked myself for not thinking of it sooner.
It ended up being the firing pin. It measured about .009" shorter than the one
I have in an identical rifle.

Thanks!!!
