Do you think the forend of the 338XLR will fit the barrel and magazine tube of my 1895 ?

Sorry Chris, almost certain they will not fit. 45-70 has a wider barrel (necessarily). You could trip the 338 forend down if you have the right tools, but there's going to be a whapping gap with the 1895 end on the 338.
