Hi,

I'd like to change the stock and forend on my 1895. They are walnut and I'd like grey laminate, the problem is that it's difficult to find (anymore I live in France).

I found another hunter who poposed me to change the grey laminate woods from his 338XLR with my 1895 walnut woods. He doesn't live near my town so we have to ship the woods by post office.

Do you think the forend of the 338XLR will fit the barrel and magazine tube of my 1895 ?

Thanks,
Chris

Sorry Chris, almost certain they will not fit. 45-70 has a wider barrel (necessarily). You could trip the 338 forend down if you have the right tools, but there's going to be a whapping gap with the 1895 end on the 338.
