Finally able to get out coyote hunting, after 5 minutes of wounded rabbit call, this one shows up.
Out 80 yds, hit it with my hand load 90 gr Sierra and lights out. What a rush.

It was a grand day. :)

Yep, been 30 F all week. Maybe up to 45 F next week. It's a bit colder winter for us this year.
Utility bills were up there. Dang global warming. Glad the coyotes didn't care!

lucky dog! you, not the yote of course ::) i've tried calling coyotes a million times. the only time i have called one in was bowhunting for turkeys. he didn't fare well either! i've used tapes, electronic calls, mouth calls, pup, rabbit, howls you name it. what am i doing wrong. i descent, set wind in my favor, and hunt known yote areas. the yote gods just don't smile down on me :'(

I know one thing and that is, if you don't have coyotes you can't call in coyotes. Where my property is at we don't have enough varmits and sheep to keep coyotes around, but a few miles down the road it is coyote paradise. Tasty little lambs! We do get bobcats and gray foxes but I guess that's because we have a bunch of quail.

Nice coyote Gjinny. Was it a male or female? There was a female taken by a bunch of hunters that use dogs this last Saturday that had 5 pups in her. The females are due to have pups in about 2 or 3 weeks. Good shooting and hope you get many more. Coyotes are really thick in my area.

It was a female, I used a KNIGHT and HALE wounded rabbit call and within 10 minutes she showed up. The scope is a Vortex Crossfire 1" tube 6-24X-50mm mildot. They still have them on sale at SWFA for $99 because the new ones are 30mm tube.

Great rifle/scope combo

i have that same scope on my marlin xs7 7mm-08 and my new cva scout 30-06. your right great scope for that price or any price as far as i'm concerned. newest one did have a loose eyepiece after shooting less than 10 rounds through it, but vortex gave me a shipping label i sent it to them, and it was back in one week. talk about customer service. those guys rock! and i think its clearer now than it ever was.
